From personal meetings to green innovations: our highlights of Intertraffic 2022

Connecting the dots – Welcome to Planet Yunex Traffic

After a four-year dry spell, it was finally time again in March 2022 to say: Welcome to Intertraffic! Over 800 exhibitors from more than 40 countries presented their innovations and solutions at the leading international trade fair for transport technology in Amsterdam. 2022 the focus was on digitization, sustainable mobility and the increasing demand for connectivity – both at the fair and at our booth.

Connectivity was the motto under which we presented our latest innovations for the mobility of tomorrow. Because if we want to master the challenges of our mobility, we have to start seeing the big picture. We need to think in a networked way, act responsibly and create solutions that are different and disruptive. Visitors of our stand could not only see what this will look like in practice, but also experience it.

Experiencing the mobility of tomorrow

Be it in the city, on the freeway or in the tunnel: we are rethinking traffic technology. This starts with traffic lights that save up to 90% energy thanks to innovative 1-watt technology and modern LED technology, and extends to a digital twin that makes tunnel control and management easier, more precise and more efficient.

Our visitors at Intertraffic were able to experience these and many other innovations from our portfolio live. For example, the digital twin became a reality in our VR area; live simulations of our traffic management platforms demonstrated how traffic can be orchestrated digitally and thus needs-based, emission-saving and safe.

These experiences left a lasting impression. But they weren’t the only ones.

The long-awaited comeback of face-to-face chats

In addition to the technological innovations, we focused on one thing at Intertraffic 2022: personal connections. From the USA to Colombia to Dubai and Israel, we have met customers and colleagues from all over the world, strengthened partnerships and formed new networks.

Be it talking about the latest innovations in mobility or simply exchanging ideas over a cup of coffee: these moments create experiences that last. And these experiences only exist in the offline world. We have therefore deliberately designed our stand and our program in such a way that there is as much room as possible for personal experiences: a cozy seating area, in the center our bar “Il momento del Café”, where we probably served the best coffee at Intertraffic; a Bavarian happy hour and an Italian aperivito to toast a successful day at the trade fair.

Such experiences show once again that digitization can do a lot, but not everything. Replacing personal contact, for example, is not one of its strengths. Revolutionizing the traffic of tomorrow, on the other hand, is. We recognized this early on and saw once again at Intertraffic that we are on the right track with our focus on digital technologies and our efforts towards sustainable mobility.

Digitization and sustainability in the spotlight

When it comes to the future of mobility, digitization and sustainability are not far away. Why? Because the climate crisis is one of the greatest challenges of our time. And digital technologies enable us to master them.

Our colleagues Andrew Hamilton and Anita Mathieu presented two innovative proves at Intertraffic: FUSION and SYMPHONY.

FUSION – the adaptive traffic control of tomorrow

FUSION is an adaptive traffic control system that can improve safety and air quality in cities while reducing costs. What else should you know about FUSION?

  • Compared to conventional adaptive control systems, FUSION impresses with significantly higher performance and up to 25% less delay.
  • A dynamic prioritization for individual road user groups such as pedestrians, cyclists and public transport is possible.
  • The official launch of FUSION is planned for Q3/2022.

A new generation of environmentally sensitive traffic management with Symphony

Another highlight in the lecture program were Anita Mathieu’s insights into a new generation of environmentally sensitive traffic management, which has the following advantages, among others:

  • Pollutants such as NO2 and PM2.5 are reduced by up to 22%.
  • With a multimodal “digital twin” a variety of environmentally friendly mobility strategies can be designed, tested and optimized.
  • With the help of real-time predictive modeling, exceeding pollutant limits can be proactively avoided.

These and many other innovations that we discovered at Intertraffic show: Only digitally can we make our cities green and liveable in the long term. And when you look at our metropolises and the global climate balance, one thing is clear: we have to. When we talk about the mobility revolution, we must therefore primarily talk about sustainability and digitization. We lead by example.

The mobility of tomorrow will be digital and sustainable. Yunex Traffic already is today.

Our mission is to make cities safe, green and liveable in the long term. We recognized early on that top-notch hardware is not enough to achieve this goal. That we need digital innovations. As one of the first companies in the field of intelligent transport systems, disruptive technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT and Co. are at the core of our portfolio. And are deeply rooted in our DNA.

Intertraffic 2022 has once again shown how much potential there is in digital traffic technology – but also how much still needs to be done before our cities and roads can meet the challenges of tomorrow. We are well prepared to shape tomorrow’s mobility digitally and sustainably. Because now is not the time to watch. Now is the time to act. We are ready. Are you too?
