Keeping critical ITS infrastructure in Sydney working

Yunex Traffic has completed its first year delivering critical Traffic Signal and Intelligent Transportation System services as part of the Sydney Roads Asset Performance Contract (SRAPc).

In partnership with Fulton Hogan and on behalf of Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW), we have successfully delivered our first year of KPI based services including the maintenance and asset management for critical Traffic Control Systems and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in the “River Zone” region of Greater Sydney.

The Sydney Roads Asset Performance contract is a nine-year duration agreement with possible extensions through to fifteen years. The nine years are broken down into three-year work packages, each of which includes improvement works, reactive work, and planned maintenance for Traffic Signal and ITS assets.

The River Zone, with Paramatta at its centre, includes Traffic Control Signal intersection locations, safety critical School Zone Warning Systems, Variable Message Signs, vehicle weighing systems as well as other ITS systems across the road network. This also includes a significant portion of ITS Technology on the M4 Smart Motorway.

The Yunex Traffic services we delivered include reactive and preventative maintenance services for Traffic Control Signals and Intelligent Traffic Systems across the region. The reactive maintenance services are coordinated by a team of dedicated fault analysts working from the newly opened 24/7 Fault Management Centre based in Rydalmere, New South Wales.

Managing Director Finance of Yunex Traffic Asia Pacific, Fabian Seelinger, says: “We are thrilled to have commenced and completed the first year of the SRAP Contract, this contract is not only a major step for our business in the region but will help to improve road network safety through enhanced asset performance and drive efficiency through improved asset planning”.

Together with our subsidiary Aldridge Traffic Controllers (ATC), which is also based in Rydalmere, we will look to leverage the expertise and the innovative traffic signal controller products of ATC to benefit the SRAP Contract. The continued use of this technology will contribute with new remote access maintenance methods, and support making traffic safer and more efficient for residents in the growing metropolitan areas of Sydney.

We at Yunex Traffic are excited to be part of a new KPI based contract model being used within the region which focuses on specific customer outcomes and objectives such as operational availability of assets, flexible approaches, innovation or new technology, and programme efficiency.

We can utilise the extensive experience gained on international projects in cities like London (TfL), Berlin or Hongkong, mixed with our growing local team to support Fulton Hogan and TfNSW to meet and exceed the expected outcomes of the SRAP Contract.
