Belonging in all forms at #TeamYunexTraffic: How we underscore our commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

How we underscore our commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging.

The Pride Month is a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ+ rights and equality around the globe. It is also an important reminder for individuals and organizations around the globe to critically evaluate current patterns and ask themselves if they make sure that everyone belongs. It is a time to celebrate the progress made towards acceptance and inclusion, while also acknowledging the challenges that remain. In this article, our Vice President HR Armin Seiler shares the most important principles of how we are fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging at Yunex Traffic:

Fostering a Culture of Inclusion and Belonging at Yunex Traffic

With the start of Pride Month this June, I am proud to share the progress we are making within Yunex Traffic to promote belonging in all its forms. Starting as a division of Siemens, we have been an independent company under the Mundys umbrella since 2022. This transition required us to set up new internal structures from scratch. Today I am proud to share that we have reached another milestone to underscore our values: the launch of our new global policy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB).

Launch of our global policy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

This policy, which came into effect in May 2024, marks a significant step forward in our journey to foster an inclusive culture where every individual feels valued and empowered.

As a global company operating in over 40 countries worldwide and employing people from more than 60 nations, implementing a policy that is universally applicable is no small feat. However, we firmly believe that diversity is not a regional issue but one of global relevance. Our new EDIB policy reflects this belief and provides a robust framework to support and empower our diverse workforce, ensuring that everyone at Yunex Traffic can thrive.

At Yunex Traffic, we recognize that EDIB is not just a policy or a set of guidelines – it’s a core value that influences every aspect of our work and our interactions. It affects all of us, and we are all responsible for shaping an inclusive culture and fostering a sense of belonging.

Creating a Thriving Workplace for All

The primary goal of our EDIB policy is to create a workplace where everyone can thrive. By establishing a strong, supportive framework, we aim to promote an environment that is inclusive, equitable, and diverse. This involves not only setting high-level principles but also ensuring these principles are adaptable to meet the specific needs and goals of each country where we operate.

The Key Principles within our Policy are:

  • Leadership Commitment and Accountability: Our leaders are continuously committed to and accountable for driving EDIB topics forward across our business.
  • Workforce Demographic Analysis: We use a comprehensive workforce demographic analysis and results from our annual employee survey to identify any representation gaps and disparities.
  • Bias-Free Job Descriptions: We continuously review and revise job descriptions and requirements to eliminate bias and promote inclusivity.
  • Regular EDIB Trainings: We are introducing regular EDIB trainings for all employees to raise awareness and promote understanding.
  • Inclusive Policies and Procedures: We revise our policies and procedures to ensure they are inclusive and free from bias.
  • Celebrating Diversity: We share our progress and success stories, celebrate cultural and heritage months, and participate in diversity-related initiatives.
  • Diverse Supplier Base: We foster a diverse supplier base and encourage suppliers to align with our EDIB values.
  • Community Engagement: We engage in community outreach initiatives that support diversity and inclusion.
  • Performance Measurement: We establish key performance indicators to measure the impact of EDIB initiatives and conduct regular evaluations and assessments.
  • Responsibility and Adjustment: We assign responsibility for each action item and make adjustments based on feedback and outcomes.

By championing EDIB, we are investing in our people and our future, ensuring that Yunex Traffic remains a place where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Pride Month: A Time for Reflection

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the progress we’ve made towards equality, but it’s also a time to reflect on the work that still needs to be done. At Yunex Traffic, we are committed to continuous improvement and to taking concrete actions that support our EDIB goals. We are proud of what we have already achieved, but we also recognize that there are still some areas that need our attention and collective effort.

These efforts are not just about compliance or meeting targets – they are about creating a workplace where every person feels seen, heard, and valued.

Looking Ahead

So, what´s next? We are currently setting up a new and dedicated Committee who will drive EDIB topics forward across our global business. Additionally, we will set up local EDIB working groups in our regions for networking, exchange, learning from each other, and to identify local EDIB focus areas. We are introducing quarterly training sessions with the aim to increase awareness and understanding and to support all of us in our journey to create a truly inclusive #TeamYunexTraffic.

We will also make sure that we are accountable towards our goals and measure our progress at year-end within our official ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) reporting and results from our annual employee survey.

As we move forward, we remain committed to embedding EDIB into every aspect of our business. We believe that diversity is our strength and that an inclusive culture drives better outcomes for our people, our clients, and our communities. Our new policy is just the beginning – we will continue to listen, learn, and take action to ensure that Yunex Traffic is a place where everyone belongs.
