A continent stands together for more sustainable mobility: European Mobility Week!
For greater awareness of more sustainable mobility, the European Commission launched European Mobility Week (EMW) in 2002. The initiative invites municipalities and cities across Europe to introduce their citizens to the full range of sustainable mobility locally. This year, the European Mobility Week invites you to experience sustainable mobility from many perspectives with lots of events all over the continent. Let’s take a closer look!
This year’s EMW is themed “Better Connections”.
Like us at Yunex Traffic, the European Commission’s EMW this year calls for connecting the elements in the transport ecosystem to realize sustainable mobility. What are those elements? The European Commission identifies five pillars that shape mobility: People, Places, Packages, Planning and Policy. Only if these go hand in hand, we can jointly take the path towards a more sustainable mobility.
“The EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2022 theme this year ‘Better connections’ seeks to highlight and foster synergies between people and places that are offering their expertise, creativity, and dedication to raising awareness about sustainable mobility. It will also promote behavioral change in favour of active mobility, in addition to reaching out and making connections between existing groups and new audiences.”
Meet Yunex Traffic and take part in the European Mobility Week 2022!
With the goal of showcasing innovative transportation solutions and presenting creative ideas for more sustainable mobility, numerous cities and municipalities are organizing events and activities during EMW for everyone to participate in.
From reinventing the street as an urban living space, to test tracks for autonomous vehicles, to competitions: there are countless ideas to inspire and encourage participation.
Get to know our RSUs and OBUS in Munich!
At some events in Europe, you will have the opportunity to get to know our solutions better: Munich, for example, is presenting the exciting TEMPUS project in line with the European Mobility Week. TEMPUS is a test field for automated and connected driving in the urban area of Munich and the surrounding region.
In this partnered project we provide the equipment for networking the vehicles with the infrastructure. Come by, experience our RSUs and OBUs and try out autonomous driving for yourself. Our team will be on site to answer your questions!
Leave your car behind on September 22!
After many different events throughout Europe, European Mobility Week finishes with a highlight at the end: the World Car-Free Day! On September 22, the European Commission calls on citizens in Europe to leave their cars behind and reinvent streets as an urban lifestyle. And in view of past events, we can promise you: roads can serve so many purposes when they are not clogged with cars.
As Yunex Traffic, we are participating in the action by taking the bike or the train to work that day. Everyone who drives green is greeted in the office with a sweet surprise. Are you with us?
