When safety drives sustainable innovation: Meet Jessica, our Service Delivery Manager

At Yunex Traffic, we are a global leader in intelligent traffic systems, developing and bringing to life innovative solutions to ensure our roads become safer, smoother and more sustainable. For all road users. Every single day.

Meet Jessica, our Service Delivery Manager at Yunex Traffic Netherlands. Learn how she is driving road safety and greener mobility – for today and tomorrow

Hi Jessica, thanks for speaking with us! Can you tell us about your role and what you do?

Jessica: Yes of course. I work as a Service Delivery Manager at Yunex Traffic Netherlands, focusing on tunnel systems and traffic safety. Currently, I am involved in projects related to Local Functional Provisions (LFV), such as traffic tube barriers, detection systems, and energy supply solutions. These systems ensure autonomous, safe, and efficient tunnel operations in compliance with the National Tunnel Standard. Innovation is key: we integrate smart detection, energy-efficient lighting, and no-break power systems to enhance reliability and sustainability. This contributes to a safer and more sustainable mobility network.

How long have you been with #TeamYunexTraffic?

Jessica: I started at Siemens Netherlands in 2000, where I worked in several divisions in financial roles. Since 2017, I have worked within our Tolling & Infrastructure Solutions business area. In 2021, we became independent as “Yunex Traffic” and I have since held positions mainly within Customer Services, with a focus in recent years primarily on the national highway network. In 2024, I decided to take the leap and deepen my knowledge. I applied for the position of Service Delivery Manager and started in this role in October 2024. In this position, I primarily manage the service contracts of CroonWolter & Dros in my portfolio, such as the Coentunnel and Maasvlakte Vaanplein, Vlaketunnel and so forth. Here, I mainly deal with tunnel installations, traffic safety, and industrial automation. In addition to these responsibilities, I am also a member of the Works Council and appointed as a confidential advisor!

Can you share how your work contributes to our overall goal of reducing environmental impact?

Jessica: My work focuses on maintaining and optimizing tunnel installations and traffic safety systems. By implementing no-break power systems, and smart detection technologies, we reduce energy consumption and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure. This minimizes CO₂ emissions and supports a more sustainable mobility network.

What is one thing you love most about your role?

Jessica: One thing I love most about my role is the variety and the sense of purpose. Every day is different – whether I’m solving technical challenges in tunnel systems, collaborating with partners, or improving safety for thousands of road users. What makes it special is knowing that my work not only keeps people safe but also contributes to a more sustainable future. That combination of technology, teamwork, and impact is what truly motivates me.

Is there an interesting fact about your job people might be surprised about?

Jessica: Tunnel systems are not just about safety – they are highly automated ecosystems. For example, LFV operate autonomously to manage traffic lights, barriers, and ventilation. This automation reduces manual interventions and improves energy efficiency, which is something most drivers never realize when passing through a tunnel.

Are there also any challenges?

Jessica: One of the biggest challenges in my role is managing complexity while staying calm under pressure. Tunnel systems involve many moving parts – technical details, strict safety standards, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. Sometimes unexpected issues arise, and you need to think fast, find solutions, and keep everyone aligned. It can be demanding, but I actually enjoy that problem-solving aspect because it pushes me to grow and learn every day.

Jessica: At Yunex Traffic, we’re committed to creating smarter, greener infrastructure. For example: I am also a part of the team which handles the rollout of Intelligent Workstation System (iWKS). By centralizing control and monitoring into one intelligent platform, iWKS eliminates redundant hardware and optimizes energy use. But the benefits go far beyond that: thanks to predictive maintenance, equipment life is extended while unnecessary waste is reduced. At the same time, lower resource consumption contributes to cutting the carbon footprint of entire road networks. And with streamlined operations, efficiency and reliability are significantly improved – ensuring that critical infrastructure can be managed smarter, more sustainably, and with greater resilience.

Innovation and sustainability go hand in hand – and iWKS is proof that technology can make mobility safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

One reason why others should join #TeamYunexTraffic?

Jessica: Because you get the chance to work on projects that truly make a difference – combining innovation, safety, and sustainability. Every day, we tackle complex challenges like optimizing tunnel systems and traffic management, knowing that our work keeps people safe and reduces environmental impact. It’s not just a job; it’s contributing to smarter, greener mobility for the future.

Thanks for speaking with us Jessica – it’s been great to learn more about your role and what you do!
